What We Believe

Oasis City is a non-denominational life-giving church in the heart of the Cowichan Valley. There is hope for tomorrow and healing from yesterday, and this hope is found in Jesus.

Our statement of faith, the very foundation upon which Oasis City is built. As a full-gospel ministry we preach and teach the following principles.

We believe in the  Eternal Existence Of The Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22)

That the Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is inspired by God, and the final authority for Christian faith and practice.
(Hebrews 4:12; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:20-21; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13)

In the virgin birth, sinless life, and the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, being both fully God and fully man.
(Luke 1:26, 2 Cor. 5:21, John 1:1)

That man was created in the image of God. We believe all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and are in need of God’s free gift of salvation.

(Genesis 1:26-31,3:1-7; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Psalm 51:5; John 6:44; Romans 5:12-21; I Corinthians 2:14;  Rom. 3:23, 6:23)

We believe that by confessing their sins to God, every believer will be forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness.
That salvation has been provided for all people through Jesus Christ.
That the believer is made holy, sanctified in Jesus, and set apart for the Master’s use through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.

(Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,35; John 3:16; I Corinthians 15:3; II Corinthians 5:21; Heb. 10:10-14, 1 Cor. 1:30, 2 Tim. 2;21, 1 Cor. 6:11, Rom. 5:16 I John 1:9)

That if any man or woman is in Christ, he is a new creation in the inward man and a member of the true universal church.
The new birth unites us together in the Body of Christ. He is the head of the Church, His body.
(2 Cor. 5:17; Col. 1:18; 2:19, 3:15, Eph. 4:12)

We believe in water baptism, and the observance of the Lord’s supper.
(Mark 16:16; I Corinthians 11:23-29)

The ministry, baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit are for every believer and will continue until the Lord’s return.
We believe it is the will of God that every believer be filled with the Holy Spirit and have the power to be a witness.
This includes the opportunity for all to speak with new tongues.

(Joel 2:28; Acts 2:4, 8:14-19)

We believe healing is provided in the redemption work of Christ and is available to every believer.
(Exodus 15:26; Psalm 107:20; James 5:14-15; Acts 10:38; I Peter 2:24)

We believe every believer is to grow up in the Lord through study of the Word, prayer, and renewing of the mind.
(Romans 12:1-2; II Corinthians 10:4-5)

That it is the Christian’s responsibility to identify with a local church and to support it with their time, gifts, tithes and offerings to spread the cause of Christ.
(Acts 16:5, Heb. 10:25, Mal. 3:10, 1 Cor. 9:7)

That marriage is a holy institution and was defined by God in the beginning. The couple being married must consist of one man and one woman.
(Gen. 2:18-24, Matt 19:4-6)

We believe that all mankind is subject to the death of the body as a result of original sin. The soul and spirit do not die, but immediately after death enter into a conscious state of joy or misery depending on if they have accepted or rejected the redemption for their sins which God has provided for us through Jesus Christ.
(Ecclesiastes 12:7; Luke 8:55, 23:43; Romans 5:12; II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23)

We believe that there shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust.
(Matthew 24:31-46; Acts 24:15; Revelation 22:11)

We believe in the personal, visible, imminent return of Jesus Christ.
(Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Our Beliefs

Apostles’ Creed

The Apostle’s Creed is the most ancient creed of the church – and we believe it is the basis of all Christian Fellowship.

The Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell*.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic**church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
